Bioheat is a blend of biodiesel and low sulfur No. 2 home heating oil. It has been used in Europe for many years and has been thoroughly tested by the Brookhaven National Laboratory, US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) and the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA). Bioheat is now becoming available in the northeast through progressive home heating oil dealers who recognize their customers’ desire for cleaner burning, domestic, renewable energy.
Greenleaf Biofuels has partnered with home heating oil dealers in Connecticut to offer you this innovative new fuel. Bioheat is typically offered in B5*, B10* and B20* blends. Greenleaf Biofuels encourages the use of bioheat B20. This blend percentage ensures the safe and consistent operation of your existing system while maximizing the environmental benefits of biodiesel. One of the greatest features of bioheat B20 is that it is a “drop-in” fuel that can be used in your existing equipment without any modifications.

*Bxx refers to the percentage of biodiesel mixed with petroleum home heating oil to create a blend. B20, for example, is a blend of 20% biodiesel and 80% No.2 home heating oil.
